The Village People has created a very influential impact in the music industry during the 70's until some parts of the 80's. Their careers mellowed down because of the new wave era during the latter part of the 80's to 90's. However, their influences on music and even live performances have never waned.
Growing up in the year where new wave is a hit, I could attest that disco music never went behind the shadows of the new age. Disco music, especially music of The Village People, has always been part of a performance in a production; may it be birthday parties, get together events and even Christmas parties. Even during Halloween or any retro and disco themed party, many would still go portraying these group.
